ALCOA Aluminio has joined Tetra Pak, paper manufacturer Klabin and engineering specialist TSL Ambiental to inaugurate the world's first carton packaging recycling facility located in Piracicaba, Brazil. The plant makes use of groundbreaking plasma technology to separate completely the aluminium and plastics ingredients of the aseptic package from each other and from the paper ease of the cartons. This is a marked improvement forward the established process that separates paper without distinguishing between aluminium and plastics.
